Know your video before you share it
Check duration, picture dimensions and average bitrate. Plan an export that fits a size limit. Your file stays on this device.

Plan a smaller export
Enter your target file size and duration. Use the suggested video bitrate in your video editor's export settings.
What the numbers mean
Dimensions describe the decoded picture, such as 1920 × 1080. A tall 1080 × 1920 recording has the same pixel count but a different shape. The tool reduces the width and height to show the aspect ratio.
Average bitrate is file size × 8 ÷ duration. It includes audio and container overhead; it is not a measurement of the video stream alone. A larger number does not guarantee better picture quality.
Container and codec are different. MP4 is a container that can hold different video and audio codecs. The file extension and browser MIME hint do not prove which codec is inside. This tool does not report codec names or frame rate because the browser metadata API does not reliably expose them.
Example: a one-minute clip under 25 MB
The size budget is about 3.23 Mbps after the margin. Reserving 128 kbps for audio leaves about 3.11 Mbps for video. Export a copy, then check its actual size; keep the original if you need to edit it again.
If your file will not preview
The file may be damaged or use a codec your browser cannot decode. Its name and size are still displayed. Try your device's media player, or use a trusted desktop inspector for codec details. Renaming .mkv to .mp4 does not convert a file.
